Qualification and Skills:

Technical Skills Requirements:

Crown Bioscience (China sites) seeks highly motivated scientific leaders in immunology and/or immunology oncology to join a cancer immunotherapy discovery/translational program.  The open positions could potentially range from senior director to senior scientists depending on the candidates’ experiences. Qualification: (Knowledge, skills, competencies): 

  1. Education:  Master degree and above in the biological sciences, animal science, veterinarian medicine, veterinarian care or a related field is preferred. DVM is plus.
  2. Certification: Veterinarian certification is preferred.
  3. Experience:  A minimum of 5 years of experience in laboratory animal care and at least 3 years animal facilities management working experience. No less than 2 years working experience on NHP. Experience of AAALAC accreditation is required.
  4. Administering injections and performing euthanasia and basic sterile surgical procedures on small and NHP; handling and restraining animals including dogs, rabbits, and rodents; interpreting and applying rules and regulations; analyzing work flow and establishing work schedules and procedures; maintaining laboratory records and developing reports.
  5. Language: Fluent in both Chinese and English with excellent oral and writing skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manages operational activities of company’s animal facilities.
  2. Develops, modifies, and implements comprehensive programs for the use and care of animals; ensure the humane, responsible, and scientifically or instructionally sound use of animals at company by maintaining current knowledge of laboratory animal science as well as regulations and standards. Observes, recognizes and reports disease or illness in animals; performs diagnostic tests to determine health of animals; sets up and maintains treatment plans for animals; restrains animals and administers injections, sedatives, and other pharmacology products; consults regarding animal treatment.
  8. Prepares animals for research purposes by administering anesthesia, shaving or performing euthanasia; assists in or performs examinations and surgical procedures; advises staff on special diets for animals.
  9. Supports the Research work by performing all other duties as assigned. Conducts training for animal care technicians and research staff; consults with all Animal Welfare Act inspectors; locates special sources and negotiates agreements for animals, supplies etc.
  10. Acts as liaison between vendors and company; hires, trains, and evaluates performance of husbandry staff.
