Rekha is a Senior Director, Scientific Engagement at Crown Bioscience. She works to direct scientific engagement with pharmaceutical companies, academic scientists, and clients. She helps in decision making with goal of high scientific input in study design and model execution. Rekha is a trained cancer biologist with a focus on preclinical cancer therapeutics, stem cell biology, immune-oncology, cancer signaling, and tumor microenvironment. She earned her PhD in Biochemistry from Central Drug Research Institute, India. She joined the University of Pittsburgh as a postdoctoral researcher and moved onto research faculty.
Marten Hornsveld PhD, Principal Scientist, Crown Bioscience
Dr. Marten Hornsveld is a molecular and cell biologist that focuses on understanding and targeting molecular signal transduction in cancer. During his PhD program, he studied the role of PI3K-AKT and EGFR-KRAS signaling in breast cancer using a variety of mouse and cell based models. In his postdoctoral research he moved into the organoid technology field and worked on building representative organoid models for pancreatic cancer that include the tumor microenvironment. This resulted in the establishment of a novel close-to-patient mini-tumor model that can be employed for both basic research and pre-clinical studies. As a principal scientist at Crown Bioscience, he continues to work on building pre-clinical tumor models to facilitate rapid discovery of promising lead compounds in the oncology field.
