Description

CD40 is a cell surface receptor that is expressed on the surface of all mature B cells, most mature B-cell malignancies, and some early B-cell acute lymphocytic leukemias, but is not expressed on plasma cells. It is also expressed on monocytes, dendritic cells, endothelial cells, and epithelial cells. CD40 plays an essential role in T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching, memory B cell development, and germinal center formation in mice. CD40 interacts with the CD40 ligand, which is found primarily on T cells, playing a role in both humoral and cell-mediated immune responses. Activation of CD40 on B cells by CD40 ligand causes B cell proliferation, differentiation, immunoglobulin isotype switching, germinal center formation, and stimulation of the humoral memory response. CD40 has been found to mediate a broad variety of immune and inflammatory responses. [OMIM: 109535]

This CD40 antibody was developed from mouse immunization, and expressed in suspension culture of mouse hybridoma clone CB26.
