Why Gene Synthesis?

Synthetic genes are genetic material created to provide an immediate and easy path from sequence databases and sequence manipulation software to physical DNA, enabling research that wouldn't be possible or practical relying on natural DNA sequences.

Synthetic genes are designed and fabricated from the ground up, using codons to enhance heterologous protein expression, optimizing characteristics needed for the expression system and host. Traditional cloning is limited by the existing DNA sequence of the gene, which encodes characteristics such as codon bias, cis-regulatory elements, and restriction sites of the organism from where it is derived. Synthetic genes face no such obstacles.

CrownBio's volume of projects requiring gene synthesis as allowed us to pass along to our customers significantly reduced per base costs. Our flat fee for this service takes the guesswork out of your budget proposals.
