Current pre-clinical cancer animal models are poorly predictive in clinical efficacy, and have limited value in predicting disease indications in humans. Primary tumor tissue offers a valuable resource for biomarker identification, as well as a better alternative for preclinical drug evaluation. However, accessing sufficient high quality tumor tissue remains a significant challenge for translational research. Furthermore, establishing testing systems from primary tumor samples is often cost inhibitive due to low success rate and high labor intensity in the process.
